After (-ㄴ 후에)
-ㄴ 후에
Expresses that something happens after another action, meaning 'after doing'.
Pattern
Verb stem + -(으)ㄴ 후에 / Noun + 후에
Explanation
-(으)ㄴ 후에 is used to express that one action occurs after another. The verb stem takes the past modifier -(으)ㄴ, followed by 후에 (after). Use -ㄴ 후에 after vowel-ending stems and -은 후에 after consonant-ending stems. For example, 먹은 후에 means 'after eating'.
You can also use -(으)ㄴ 다음에 or -(으)ㄴ 뒤에, which have the same meaning. 먹은 후에, 먹은 다음에, and 먹은 뒤에 all mean 'after eating'. 후에 is slightly more formal, while 다음에 is more conversational.
With nouns, simply use 후에 without the verb modifier: 수업 후에 (after class), 졸업 후에 (after graduation). This pattern pairs naturally with -기 전에 to describe complete sequences of events.
Examples
밥을 먹은 후에 커피를 마셔요.
Babeul meogeun hue keopireul masyeoyo.
After eating, I drink coffee.
졸업한 후에 뭐 할 거예요?
Joreopan hue mwo hal geoyeyo?
What will you do after graduating?
운동한 후에 샤워해요.
Undonghan hue syawohaeyo.
I shower after exercising.
수업 후에 만나요.
Sueop hue mannayo.

Common Mistakes
Wrong
먹는 후에 커피를 마셔요.
Correct
먹은 후에 커피를 마셔요.
Use the past modifier -(으)ㄴ before 후에, not the present modifier -는. The action is completed before the next one starts.
Wrong
먹기 후에 커피를 마셔요.
Correct
먹은 후에 커피를 마셔요.
후에 uses the past modifier -(으)ㄴ, not the nominalizer -기. Compare with -기 전에 which does use -기.
